Israeli MK Receives Prison Call From Arab Murderer Criticizing Education System
Zvi Sukkot, chairman of the Knesset Education Committee, recently received an unexpected phone call from an Arab Bedouin prisoner serving a sentence for family murder at Ketziot Prison. The inmate praised Sukkot's visits to Arab educational institutions aimed at reducing violence and incitement, telling him, "You are saving education in Arab society."
During the conversation, the prisoner revealed he was educated in a Ministry of Education-recognized school in Kseifa, where teachers allegedly promoted hatred toward Jews and encouraged violence. He explained that criminal behavior often stems from nationalist indoctrination, citing the 2021 riots as examples where participants had criminal backgrounds but were also influenced by nationalist motives.
The inmate described growing up in an environment where offenses against Arabs were condemned but offenses against Jews were met with sympathy, reflecting what he called the Israeli education system's failure. He claimed that even criminal acts like extortion in Arab communities are rooted in nationalist ideology taught in schools, where Jews are dehumanized and portrayed as occupiers.
He warned that this "infected DNA" would persist across generations unless education changes. Sukkot responded by emphasizing that this testimony should serve as a wake-up call for Israel's future, stating that combating crime and terror requires addressing the root cause: the education system. He pledged that his committee would continue exposing such content and ensure schools promote coexistence, respect for law, and loyalty to the state, withholding funding from those who do not comply.
