Dan Avidan, 49, founder of the luxury boutique DREAM located in Big Fashion Glilot, has risen from modest origins in a small Netanya neighborhood to become a notable figure in Israel's luxury retail scene. Unlike many in the industry who inherit wealth or connections, Avidan started with little, recalling how his grandmother left only an electricity bill behind. His journey involved hard work, including traveling city to city during the COVID-19 pandemic to sell merchandise directly from his car.
Avidan's social media presence, which began in 2015 with unedited videos documenting his sales trips, has grown organically to generate around 11 million monthly views without paid advertising. He views social media as a tool for authenticity and community-building rather than personal fame. Despite competition from established players like Factory 54, Avidan focuses on cultivating a loyal customer base rather than expanding his network's size.
His boutique specializes in high-end brands such as Chanel, Loro Piana, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton, with a strict policy against counterfeit goods. Avidan emphasizes transparency, providing original receipts and import documentation for all items. He invests hundreds of thousands of euros annually to secure allocations of iconic Hermès bags, which can retail for up to 103,000 shekels, and limited-edition shoes priced around 42,000 shekels. His clientele includes affluent shoppers arriving in luxury cars and even private helicopters.
Despite his success, Avidan maintains a grounded approach, working 12 to 14 hours daily and prioritizing family, humility, and integrity. He chooses to keep his store closed on Saturdays, foregoing significant revenue in adherence to personal values. Avidan credits his mother’s prayers, his wife Marina’s support, and his family for sustaining him through challenges.
