Israeli Infant Undergoes Urgent Liver Tumor Surgery in US, Family Seeks Financial Aid
A six-month-old Israeli infant was rushed for urgent medical care after persistent jaundice and alarming liver function tests revealed a liver tumor. Initially suspected to be a simple viral reaction to recent antibiotics, the infant’s condition worsened, prompting a hospital referral where critical liver failure was diagnosed. After extensive testing, doctors urgently ordered an MRI and instructed the parents to keep the baby fasting, signaling the severity of the situation.
The MRI revealed a benign tumor near the liver, but doctors emphasized the need for immediate surgery to prevent malignant transformation. Following medical advice, the family arranged for the surgery in the United States, which was successfully performed after a six-month wait. The infant has since returned to Israel and remains under close medical supervision, undergoing biweekly tests and treatments.
The family faces overwhelming financial hardship due to the high costs of flights, prolonged stay abroad, and expensive medical care, much of which is not covered by insurance. With no substantial family support, they are appealing for public donations to raise $80,000 to continue life-saving treatments.
Rabbi Yaakov Tufik, the religious leader of Beitar Illit, issued a heartfelt plea urging the community to assist the family during this crisis, blessing those who contribute with health and prosperity. The parents expressed deep gratitude for the child’s survival but implored the public not to let them collapse now, emphasizing the urgent need for financial help to secure their child’s full recovery.
