Qualcomm Acquires Israeli Cybersecurity Firm Sam for Over $150 Million

Qualcomm, the global semiconductor giant, has acquired the Israeli cybersecurity company Sam Seamless Network for an estimated sum exceeding $150 million, according to Calcalist. Founded in 2016 by Shmulik Hefetz and Sivan Rausher-Gannot, Sam provides cybersecurity and user experience enhancement solutions to over 15 million networks worldwide, monitoring and protecting half a billion devices. Its clientele includes major American telecom companies AT&T and Verizon, Israeli provider Bezeq, and leading European operators such as Belgium's Telenet and the UK's Virgin Media.

Sam's cybersecurity technology has proven effective in complex real-world scenarios, including emergency situations, delivering real-time protection without compromising network performance or user experience. The company's solutions enable service providers to detect advanced threats proactively and offer more secure and reliable services to their customers. Sam employs around 80 people across Israel and the United States and has raised approximately $30 million from prominent investors including Blumberg Capital, NightDragon, Ericsson, Telefónica, and Intel Capital.

Following the acquisition, Sam will operate as an independent unit within Qualcomm, aiming to expand the deployment of its software solutions through Qualcomm's global partner and customer network. Qualcomm anticipates significant growth in Sam's operations in the coming years as part of its broader cybersecurity strategy.
