Portland Trail Blazers Pursue Free Agent Kelly Oubre Jr. Amid Competition
Following a major trade that brought Ja Morant and Deni Avdija to the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oregon-based NBA team continues to strengthen its roster by targeting free agent guard/forward Kelly Oubre Jr. Standing 2.03 meters tall and aged 30, Oubre Jr. and his representatives are scheduled to meet with Portland officials as he recently completed his 12th NBA season, including three years with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Portland is not the only team interested in Oubre Jr.; he has also held discussions with representatives from the 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Indiana Pacers. Drafted 15th overall in 2015 by Washington, Oubre Jr. had his best statistical season in 2022-2023 with the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 20.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, although injuries limited him to 48 games that year.
In the summer of 2023, he joined Philadelphia, where he averaged 14.1 points and 5.0 rebounds in the most recent season. Over his NBA career, Oubre Jr. has played 740 games, posting averages of 13.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during regular seasons. The Trail Blazers aim to add his versatility to their lineup as they continue to reshape their team following the blockbuster trade.
