Energy Minister Eli Cohen Says Israel Will Expand Control to Entire Gaza Strip
Energy Minister and National Security Cabinet member Eli Cohen stated in a morning interview that Israel plans to gradually expand its control over the Gaza Strip until it fully controls the entire territory. Speaking to Ziv Maor, Cohen emphasized that Israel cannot allow Hamas any room to regain strength, saying, "There is no such thing as letting Hamas raise its head even by a millimeter."
Cohen provided recent figures indicating that about two months ago, Israel controlled approximately 53% of Gaza, increasing to 60% a month ago, and currently nearing 70%. He predicted that Israel's territorial control will continue to grow until it reaches 100% of the Gaza Strip. Although he did not specify a timeline for achieving full control, Cohen stressed that this expansion is essential to prevent Hamas from reestablishing itself or rebuilding its military capabilities.
This statement reflects Israel's ongoing military operations in Gaza and its strategic objective to dismantle Hamas's influence and infrastructure within the territory. The gradual increase in control highlights the intensifying conflict and Israel's commitment to securing the region against Hamas threats.
