Gadi Eizenkot Officially Launches Bid for Israeli Prime Minister
Gadi Eizenkot, chairman of the Yisrael! party, officially announced his candidacy for Prime Minister in a campaign launch event on Tuesday evening. He declared that the current government, which he called "the terrible October government," will end this October, and a new, better chapter in Israel's history will begin. Eizenkot pledged to act with dedication for the country, promising to be a unifying leader rooted in Israel's tradition and heritage, serving all citizens.
Eizenkot described the upcoming elections as critical for Israel's security, unity, and soul. He vowed that his government would decisively address key issues such as security, mandatory military service, and inclusive public education. He also committed to investing significantly in rehabilitating the northern and southern regions, expanding the military to ease the burden on regular and reserve soldiers without compromising security needs, and improving healthcare, education, transportation, and infrastructure.
Additionally, Eizenkot promised to establish a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 failures to learn from the past and prepare for the future, calling it his foremost duty. Regarding the Basic Law on Torah Study, which passed the Knesset committee and is set for a plenary vote, Eizenkot responded to Netanyahu's call by emphasizing his strong belief in national unity.
