MK Boaron Urges Progress on Western Wall Law Despite Delays and Criticism of MK Rotman

Amid delays in advancing the Western Wall Law in the Knesset Constitution Committee, MK Avichai Boaron from Likud responded to criticism directed at committee chairman MK Simcha Rotman. The criticism came from Channel 14 host Boaz Golan, who accused Rotman of reluctance to move the legislation forward, warning that the delay could harm the status quo at the Western Wall and other synagogues.

Boaron emphasized that Rotman does not represent the entire coalition and stressed the importance of passing the law, noting that he has worked with MK Avi Maoz to promote it. He expressed hope that the legislation would advance during the upcoming "clean-up" session in the Knesset. Boaron acknowledged the challenges but called for finding ways to push the law forward despite committee delays.

Additionally, Boaron addressed broader criticism of the coalition's performance, highlighting ongoing efforts to pass significant laws such as the Attorney General's powers split, judicial selection reform, the Basic Law on Torah study, equalizing judges' salaries with Knesset members, and laws concerning the public broadcasting corporation and the Council for Higher Education. He asserted that the government is making steady progress, appointing officials gradually, and delivering results through strong and ethical leadership.
