French Guard Silvan Francisco Signs Three-Year Deal with Villeurbanne in EuroLeague
Villeurbanne has secured a major signing for the EuroLeague summer transfer window by officially announcing the acquisition of 28-year-old French point guard Silvan Francisco. The player signed a three-year contract extending through the summer of 2029, with reports estimating the deal's value at around 10 million euros. Francisco returns to France after five seasons abroad, during which he played in Spain, Greece, Germany, and Lithuania.
Most recently, Francisco had a standout season with Zalgiris Kaunas, winning the Lithuanian championship for the second consecutive year. In the EuroLeague, he averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game, shooting nearly 39 percent from beyond the arc. His performance earned him a spot on the league's All-EuroLeague First Team, marking one of the best seasons of his career.
Before joining Villeurbanne, Francisco posted an emotional farewell to Zalgiris Kaunas on social media, expressing deep appreciation for the club and the city. He highlighted the fans, children, and club staff who made him feel at home, stating that Kaunas will always hold a special place in his heart. This marks Francisco's second stint in the French league; previously, he played for Rouen, averaging 14.7 points and 4.7 assists per game. He is expected to be a key player in Villeurbanne's new project led by Tony Parker.
