Ben Gurion Airport's Terminal 1 Reopens for International Flights with Four Airlines Starting July
Ben Gurion Airport's Terminal 1 is set to reopen for international flights tomorrow, Wednesday, after being closed since the start of the recent conflict. The terminal had already resumed domestic flights to Eilat yesterday, marking a gradual return to normal operations. Starting July 1, four airlines will operate international flights from Terminal 1, including three Israeli carriers and Wizz Air.
The number of airlines serving the terminal is expected to increase to five in August with the addition of Georgian Airways, and potentially six in September if Transavia resumes its flights to Israel. Israeli airlines will also continue to operate most domestic flights to Ramon Airport in Eilat from Terminal 1. Passenger traffic at the terminal is projected to reach up to 9,000 travelers per day, totaling around 200,000 passengers monthly.
Meanwhile, Ben Gurion Airport anticipates up to 20 American flights departing today, with efforts underway to free up parking spaces for airlines to avoid flight cancellations during the busy summer travel season. This reopening of Terminal 1 is part of a broader effort to accommodate the expected surge in passenger volume during the upcoming vacation period.
