Jerusalem Sees Significant Rise in New Business Openings Through 2026
According to data from Jerusalem's Business Promotion Department, the city has experienced a notable increase in new business openings over recent years. In 2024, 710 new businesses opened compared to 483 closures. This positive trend continued in 2025 with 669 new businesses opening and only 219 closing. By June 2026, 310 new businesses had opened against just 40 closures, indicating sustained growth.
These figures reflect strong confidence from entrepreneurs and business owners in Jerusalem, supported by active municipal efforts. The city provides professional guidance, easier access to municipal services, licensing assistance, consultation days, exposure events for grants, and various programs to encourage entrepreneurship and business growth.
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion emphasized the city's ongoing commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic development. He stated, "Jerusalem continues to prove it is a city of entrepreneurship, growth, and opportunities. The data shows the resilience of the business sector and the trust business owners and entrepreneurs place in the city. I commend the Business Promotion Department for their dedicated work. We will continue investing in local economic development, strengthening commercial centers, and removing barriers to enable businesses in Jerusalem to grow, develop, and succeed."
