Amnon Shashua Launches New AI Code Development Model to Compete with Industry Giants
Amnon Shashua, founder and CEO of Mobileye, is set to launch a new language model for code development through his startup AA-I in the coming months. The model aims to compete in the crowded code generation market currently dominated by major players such as Anthropic with Claude Code and Cursor, which was recently acquired by Elon Musk's SpaceX for $60 billion. Other significant competitors include Microsoft's GitHub Copilot, Cognition's Windsurf, and OpenAI's Codex.
Shashua revealed in an interview with The Washington Post that AA-I, founded with researchers from the Hebrew University, accelerated one of Nvidia's software libraries by 3.5 times while identifying numerous previously undetected bugs. This was achieved using a novel training method for AI models that differs from the prevalent reward-based training by incorporating multiple scientific hypotheses and rigorous testing.
The successful experiment with Nvidia not only boosted AI processing performance but also validated Shashua's new software development approach. This innovation could reshape how AI-assisted coding tools are developed and deployed in the future.
