Israeli Knesset Extends Statute of Limitations for Sexual Offenses Against Minors

The Israeli Knesset approved in its second and third readings a new law extending the statute of limitations for sexual offenses committed against minors. Under the updated legislation, the statute of limitations will now extend until the victim reaches the age of 48. For cases involving sexual offenses within the family or incest, the statute of limitations is extended further until the victim turns 49. This extension acknowledges the unique and complex difficulties victims face in disclosing abuse perpetrated by family members or close authority figures.
