Israeli Police Commander Plans Legal Action Against Chief Over Deputy Appointment

Israeli Police Commander Avi Biton intends to file a petition against Police Commissioner Danni Levi, accusing him of breaking a promise to appoint Biton as deputy commissioner. The report, published by i24NEWS on Monday evening, states that Biton is expected to return to the police force in two days. It also notes that Commissioner Levi has refused to meet with Biton.

Biton plans to submit the petition to the court and include National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as a respondent. According to the report, Ben-Gvir also signed the commitment to appoint Biton as deputy commissioner, and Biton will rely on the minister's declaration in his legal claim.

In response to the report, Biton said he is awaiting a conversation with the commissioner and hopes the agreement made between the minister, the commissioner, and himself about two years ago will be honored. He expressed a preference to resolve the matter privately with the commissioner.
