Coalition Chair Urges Opposition to Support Ban on Red Cross Visits to Terrorist Prisoners
Ophir Katz, the chairman of the coalition, has called on opposition members to back a bill that would prohibit the Red Cross from visiting terrorists in Israeli prisons. This legislation is expected to be brought to a preliminary vote in the Knesset plenum soon. Earlier, the United Torah Judaism party announced it would withhold support for coalition bills until promised legislation benefiting them is advanced. Similarly, Aryeh Deri, leader of the Shas party, expressed his desire to see progress on laws important to his faction before supporting coalition initiatives.
