Houthi Rebels Enhance Missile Range and Accuracy Amid Regional Tensions
Western intelligence sources report that the Houthi movement in Yemen has been conducting missile tests recently to improve both the range and precision of their weapons. These developments come amid ongoing regional conflicts and are seen as an effort to enhance their military capabilities. Since resuming attacks on Israel on March 28, the Houthis have launched approximately six missiles and five drones towards Israeli territory, a relatively limited number compared to other Iranian proxies like Hezbollah. The group had refrained from firing at Israel since the Gaza ceasefire agreement in October 2025.
Last week, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi declared his organization's readiness to intervene militarily in support of Hamas if Israel initiates another military operation in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized ongoing coordination with the resistance axis and warned against any escalation, particularly in Gaza. Additionally, al-Houthi addressed Israeli activities in Somaliland, accusing Israel of attempting to control strategic locations such as the Gulf of Aden, Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and the Red Sea. He stated that the Houthis would not accept an Israeli presence in Somaliland and would act to counter it if necessary.
