Elementor Announces Layoffs of About 100 Employees Amid AI-Driven Restructuring

Elementor, the Israeli website-building platform, announced a significant restructuring plan that will result in the layoff of approximately 100 employees, representing about 30% of its workforce. This move follows a similar downsizing by Wix, which cut around 1,000 jobs last month. The company stated that the layoffs are part of an organizational reset designed to adapt to the rapid changes brought by artificial intelligence in the web development sector.

Founded in 2015, Elementor powers over 25 million websites and is installed on about 13% of the world’s internet sites. The company plans to shift to a leaner, flatter organizational structure with fewer management layers, focusing on its core product and profitable growth based on its revenues. The layoffs will affect employees who have been summoned for hearings prior to termination, with the company promising support and severance packages beyond legal requirements.

CEO and co-founder Yoni Luxenberg described the decision as painful but necessary to ensure Elementor remains independent and resilient. He emphasized the company’s recognition of a "rapid and fundamental change" in how websites are built and consumed, with AI agents becoming key creators and users alongside humans. In March, Elementor launched Sticklet AI, an app enabling users to develop web applications through AI without programming knowledge, following competitors like Base 44 (acquired by Wix) and Lovable.

Luxenberg reflected on the past decade of growth and innovation at Elementor but acknowledged an underestimation of the speed of technological disruption. He stated that the company is healthy and profitable but must now focus on agility and community to lead the next chapter of the internet.
