MK Ariel Kellner Says Erdogan’s Turkey Is a Threat to Israel and the West
MK Ariel Kellner of Likud addressed recent statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an interview with Radio Galey Israel, and called on the government and the Western world to change their approach toward the Turkish regime. In an interview with Ziv Maor and Menachem Man, Kellner presented a firm and uncompromising stance on Turkey’s conduct in recent times. "Right now, the State of Turkey under Erdogan is an enemy state in every respect," said the coalition lawmaker at the start of his remarks.
"A tyrant who seeks to restore the caliphate" Kellner elaborated on what he sees as the roots of the Turkish leader’s extremist motivations, warning that his political-religious ambitions go far beyond the local conflict in the Middle East. "This is a tyrant who seeks to restore the Islamic caliphate," the Likud MK charged, and added an unequivocal description of Erdogan’s attitude toward Israel: "He is a very dangerous man and a full-on Israel hater. We need to treat the threat he poses with the utmost seriousness."
Call for the Western world to wake up In conclusion, Kellner argued that the State of Israel is not the only one in the regime’s sights, and that the entire West must recognize that Turkey under the current leadership poses a danger to global stability. "The free world as a whole would do well to see Erdogan as a threat," Kellner concluded in the interview, calling on Western countries and international alliances to form a more unified and firmer front against the Turkish president’s statements and actions in the regional arena.
