South Sudan Foreign Minister Visits Western Wall, Affirms Solidarity with Israel

South Sudan's Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. James Pitia Morgan, visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Sunday as part of his official visit to Israel. He was welcomed by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, and Mordechai (Soli) Eliav, CEO of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation. During the visit, the hosts explained the historical and religious significance of the Western Wall to the Jewish people as a remnant of the Temple and a symbol of prayer and hope throughout generations. They also expressed gratitude for the friendship and support between South Sudan and Israel.

Dr. Morgan, who was raised in a Christian family, reflected on the biblical history of the Jewish people, emphasizing that God's promise to them is eternal and that He has never abandoned them. He encouraged maintaining hope even in difficult times, calling the Jewish people blessed and chosen, and recognizing Jerusalem as God's home. Both the Rabbi and the Foreign Minister recited Psalms and a special prayer for peace among nations. Dr. Morgan placed a written note in the Wall and signed the guestbook, expressing solidarity with the Jewish people and Israel and pledging prayers for peace, love, and prosperity in the Holy Land.
