Orlando Magic Release Forward Jonathan Isaac After Nine Seasons

The Orlando Magic officially announced on June 28, 2026, the release of forward Jonathan Isaac after nine years with the team, including seven seasons as an active player. The decision was primarily financial, as Isaac's partially guaranteed contract was costing the team $14.5 million, of which they saved $6.5 million by releasing him. Isaac has struggled with injuries in recent years and averaged 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10 minutes per game this season.

Isaac is known for his strong defensive skills and is recognized as a pro-Israel athlete. A devout Christian, he expressed willingness to play for the Israeli national team as a naturalized citizen during a December 2023 interview with Sport Channel. He also raised funds for the Israeli emergency medical organization United Hatzalah following the October 2025 attack in Shebaa.
