Bereaved Families Group Presses Netanyahu Over Lebanon Deal and Northern Security
The Gvura Forum released a video on Saturday night compiling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pledges to defeat Hezbollah and restore security to northern Israel. The group said the clip was meant to remind Netanyahu of the goals set throughout the fighting and to ask whether the new agreement with Lebanon באמת, in their view, fulfills those commitments.
In the video, the forum says, "Netanyahu, you promised, the people of Israel stand behind you." The organization says many bereaved families paid the heaviest price in the war in both Gaza and Lebanon in pursuit of a decisive outcome. It argues that any diplomatic or security arrangement must be judged first by whether it guarantees long-term safety for northern communities and prevents Hezbollah from rebuilding.
The forum said it wanted a clear answer from the prime minister on whether the new deal meets the promises made to northern residents. It also said it trusts the IDF, which it described as the only force capable of defeating Hezbollah, and expects that to happen if the Lebanese army does not do so within a set period.
Earlier in the week, Gvura Forum families held an emergency gathering at the Gvura encampment in Jerusalem, where they urged the government to keep acting until the security threat to northern settlements is removed. At that event, they stressed that responsibility for Israeli civilians’ security rests only with the Israeli government and that any action taken must ensure stable, lasting protection for the region.
