Border Forum Chair Says Lebanon Deal Will Be Judged by Security, Not Paper

Moshe Davidovich, head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council and chairman of the Frontline Communities Forum, commented in the wake of the signing of an agreement between Lebanon and Israel. He said that while there is hope for a diplomatic arrangement, “we must stay grounded.”

Davidovich said keeping the Israel Defense Forces on the security line is critical. But, he warned, as long as Hezbollah remains on the ground and there is no strong multinational force made up of several countries to enforce demilitarization, the threat of attack still exists.

He added that the real test of the agreement will not be “on paper in Washington,” but in the outcome and in the actual security of residents of the border communities.
