Iran says Revolutionary Guard stopped three foreign tankers in the Strait of Hormuz
Iranian media reported on Friday that three foreign oil tankers tried to cross the Strait of Hormuz but were turned back after warnings from the Revolutionary Guard navy. According to the report, the tankers attempted to pass through a route that had not been approved by Iran.
The report did not identify the vessels or say where they were headed. It framed the incident as another breach of understandings set out in a memorandum of understanding.
The claim comes one day after The Wall Street Journal reported that the Revolutionary Guard attacked a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, near Oman’s coast. That earlier incident reportedly damaged the vessel, but caused no injuries.
