President Herzog’s Air Force helicopter makes emergency landing after bird strike
An Israeli Air Force “Yanshuf” helicopter carrying President Isaac Herzog on Thursday was forced to make an emergency landing at Palmachim after striking a bird in flight. Herzog had been traveling from the memorial ceremony for the fallen of Operation Protective Edge at Mount Herzl to a condolence visit in central Israel.
According to the report, the incident happened during the presidential flight. As part of standard procedure, the flight crew was transferred to another helicopter and continued the mission.
The affected helicopter was handed over to Air Force technical teams for further maintenance, with the goal of returning it to full operational use as soon as possible. The incident is being investigated.
