Reports in Iran: Explosions Also in Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island
Media outlets in Iran reported a series of explosions and blasts at several locations in the south of the country and in the Gulf area. According to the reports, explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas and Minab, and air defense systems were activated in the Assaluyeh area. The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that explosions in Qeshm and Hengam were caused by strikes from shells or missiles. By contrast, the Tasnim news agency claimed there were no explosions on the islands of Kish and Qeshm, and that the sounds heard there were related to clashes in the Gulf. Press TV reported that a "site" in Sirik was hit by "enemy shells." At this stage, there is no clear picture of the scope of the attacks or the damage.
