A large Israeli flag was torn down Wednesday morning from a lookout built in memory of fighters killed in the October 7 battles. The flag had been raised there on Independence Day in a ceremony attended by Regional Council head Eran Doron.
The vandalism is part of a string of incidents in recent days around the religious community of Retamim in the Holot Halutza area. Earlier this week, a memorial corner for Golani soldier Sgt. Yehuda Peretz, a local resident who was killed, was damaged.
A few days before that, graffiti identifying the Bedouin Azazme tribe was sprayed on the entrance sign to Retamim. The repeated attacks have hit different sites in the area over several days, including the memorial lookout and the village entrance, leaving several local remembrance and public markers damaged.
