After the New York Knicks won their first NBA title since 1973, fans and media identified an unlikely hero from the stands, Jordyn Woods’ bright orange bag. Woods, the fiancée of Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns, carried it to almost every playoff game in 2026, and the team won every game in which it was present in the arena, a 13-game streak that lasted until the Finals.
The only playoff loss came in Game 3, when Woods could not bring the bag into the arena because President Donald Trump was in the crowd and security rules barred bags. Without the orange item in the stands, the Knicks suffered their lone defeat, further cementing its reputation as a lucky charm.
After the championship, Towns joked that the bag had done so much it should be displayed at the Whitney or the Guggenheim. That comment quickly turned real: the Guggenheim Museum in New York announced it would honor the bag with a special display from June 24 through June 28.
The bag itself is not an expensive designer accessory. It is a bright orange, leather-like bag designed by Woods herself and costs about $125. The Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5, clinched the series 4-1, and captured the franchise’s third title and first since 1973, after championships in 1970 and 1973.
