International Friends Day: An Unusual Friendship at the Safari

Today, Monday, International Best Friends Day was marked around the world, and the Safari is sharing a particularly sweet video that shines a spotlight on an extraordinary friendship between two animals.

Tokyo, a nearly 5-year-old young orangutan, and Beki, a 28-year-old gibbon, were both born at the Safari and live together in a shared enclosure. The two maintain a particularly close bond and display a friendly, warm relationship, despite the age gap between them.

At the Safari, they note that tomorrow the site will return to regular activity and reopen to the general public.
