Israel is still struggling to curb vehicle-related air pollution, according to a follow-up report by the State Comptroller on air pollution from vehicles and the rollout of electric cars. The new audit reviews whether shortcomings identified in a January 2024 report were fixed, based on checks carried out between June 2025 and January 2026. In 2024, requests to correct the deficiencies were sent to 23 audited bodies, 18 said they had fixed them, one reported late, and the rest, the Israel Land Authority, the Emek HaMaayanot Regional Council, Kiryat Bialik Municipality and Beit Shean Municipality, did not report back.
