Cristiano Ronaldo’s sisters, Elma and Katia, used his two-goal performance on Tuesday against Uzbekistan to settle scores with critics. Portugal beat Fabio Cannavaro’s team 5-0, easing pressure after a tense 1-1 draw with DR Congo.
Elma posted that Ronaldo had answered his detractors on the pitch and mocked commentators who had doubted him. She wrote, among other things, that it was another difficult day for Ronaldo’s haters and urged people to “respect the legend,” adding that he had silenced the “parrots” and “talkers” with his play.
Katia followed with a longer defense, saying the week had been “dark” and marked by unfair criticism aimed at erasing a career built through sweat, pain, discipline and willpower. She said people had tried to hurt, humiliate and diminish him, but that Ronaldo responded “as always, on the field,” with determination, fire and the heart of a fighter.
Katia also emphasized his identity as the son of Dolores and Dinis, brother of Katia, Hugo and Elma, and called him a family man, tireless worker, top professional and example of commitment and courage. She said he had once again shown why he is a legend and ended by saying, “the real people never stay silent, the real people answer with work.”
