Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said during a visit to Tokyo that agency inspectors will examine Iran’s uranium enrichment sites. He said the exact timing is less important than the inspection itself, adding, "Whether it happens the day after tomorrow, in a week or in 10 days, it matters, but it is not essential. It will happen."
Grossi’s remarks came after conflicting claims on Monday from Washington and Tehran over inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities that were bombed during the war. The statement signals that, despite the dispute over timing and access, the IAEA expects to carry out the checks.
The agency chief did not give a date for the inspections, but made clear they are going ahead.
