Cristiano Ronaldo entered the record books by becoming the first player to score at six different World Cups. The 41-year-old opened the scoring in the sixth minute and later added a second goal before halftime as Portugal routed Uzbekistan 5-0.
The brace lifted Ronaldo's World Cup total to 10 goals, still well behind the tournament's all-time top scorers, including his long-time rival Lionel Messi. His first goal also moved him up to second place on the list of the oldest scorers in World Cup history.
Ronaldo scored at 41 years and 138 days old, passing his close friend Pepe, who had previously scored at age 39 years and 283 days in the last tournament. The oldest scorer on the list remains Cameroon legend Roger Milla, who netted in the 1994 World Cup at 42 years and 39 days.
