Paris has shortened visiting hours at two of its biggest attractions because of an extreme heat wave sweeping across central and western Europe. The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum will close at 4:00 p.m. local time.
Authorities in France have placed more than half the country under the highest-level heat warning. The heat has also set a record in Paris, where last night was the hottest June night ever measured in the capital.
The move comes as much of Europe grapples with dangerous temperatures, prompting disruption to public life and tourism in affected areas.
