Radio and TV host Yinon Magal said live on 103FM on Tuesday that Israel had been on the brink of civil war. He added, "There is a chance the Arabs saved us from a civil war. From your perspective there were no red lines." The remark came amid intense political debate over the country’s internal divisions.
About a week earlier, former prime minister Naftali Bennett attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a press conference. Bennett opened by praising what he called Israel’s wartime resilience, saying, "In the war of 1,000 days, the people of Israel, IDF soldiers and all security branches showed the entire world exceptional bravery and breathtaking ingenuity that will still be studied in history books."
Bennett then blamed the leadership, saying, "The leadership disappointed. Netanyahu’s government term began with a civil war, continued with the October 7 massacre, and ends with a historic failure against Iran." He also rejected reports about a possible power-sharing arrangement with Yair Lapid, saying, "Lapid and I are not only talking unity, we are making unity. We will try to expand the bloc."
