"I Love It": Four Words from Trump Stun Reporters
U.S. President Donald Trump sparked an uproar when he addressed the rise in inflation to 4.2%, amid the war with Iran.
"No, I love it. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love inflation," he said at the White House. He later explained that he expects inflation to "fall like a rock" after the war ends. Trump concluded that the American economy is at its peak, saying, "We have the best economy we've ever had."
The remarks drew widespread reactions on social media, some surprised and others mocking and critical, mainly because of the unusual wording.
A White House official said Trump’s comments were misunderstood and that, in the full context of his remarks, he was referring positively to the inflation figure, not to rising prices themselves. According to him, "the Democrats and the fake media took the president’s words out of context," and he added that Trump is leading "the strongest and most resilient economy in the world."
