Lionel Messi scored in the 38th minute to put his team ahead 1-0 against Austria, and in the process became the all-time leading goal scorer in World Cup history with 17 goals.
The goal moved the Argentina captain past Germany's Miroslav Klose. Messi had been tied with Klose after scoring a hat trick last week against Algeria.
The new record gives Messi sole possession of the top spot on the World Cup scoring list, adding another milestone to his tournament career.
