A photo circulating online has stirred debate in France after viewers noticed a hidden box in Michael Olise’s locker room cubicle. The item was identified as a VELO snus box, a nicotine pouch product that sits between the gums and lips and delivers nicotine without smoking cigarettes or tobacco.
The article says modern footballers are closely monitored medically and professionally, and many avoid cigarettes, alcohol and other habits that can harm the body. Against that backdrop, the image surprised many users, who said they were concerned by Olise’s apparent use of the product.
While snus is described as less harmful than cigarettes, the report says it is not risk-free. It can cause immediate damage in the mouth, raise heart rate and blood pressure, and over time may contribute to cancers of the mouth, throat, esophagus and pancreas, as well as heart disease, diabetes and nicotine addiction.
