U.S. Military Releases Footage of Iranian Oil Tanker Disabled in the Gulf of Oman
The United States military has released footage of an Iranian oil tanker being disabled in the Gulf of Oman as part of the maritime blockade enforcement led in the region by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
According to a CENTCOM statement, the oil tanker M/T Settebello, flying the flag of Palau, was disabled by a helicopter after it failed to respond to repeated instructions from forces operating in the area. The published footage shows the precise strike carried out against the ship's engine room, with the aim of neutralizing its ability to move.
CENTCOM said this was the second vessel disabled within 24 hours after it attempted to violate the blockade and transport oil from Iran. It also said that since the operation began on April 13, eight vessels have been disabled, 134 ships have been redirected to alternate routes, and 42 ships carrying humanitarian aid have been allowed to continue on their way.
