Paramount+ is reportedly trying to persuade Tom Hardy to return to the third season of "MobLand" after initially moving ahead without him. The series has been frozen for at least a month, and the shift came after viewers reacted angrily to reports that the show could not continue without Hardy.
According to the Daily Mail, company executives only realized how strongly audiences connected with Hardy after the backlash. In recent weeks, Hardy and senior Paramount+ executives have held meetings aimed at reaching an agreement, but he has not yet agreed to come back. One source said, "Tom is a star, the audience loves him, but the managers underestimated him," adding, "It was extraordinary" and that the feeling now is there is no "MobLand" without Tom.
Earlier reports said Hardy, who plays Harry De Souza, was pushed out of the new season after repeated clashes with producers, lateness on set, script changes he made without coordination, and tensions with co-star Dame Helen Mirren, who plays Maeve Harrigan. A source quoted by the Daily Mail said Mirren felt he behaved as if he were "the king." Other reports said he was often on his phone during work and had grown frustrated that the series focused more on other stars.
Hardy is said to be determined not to work beyond the end of this year because he and his wife, actress Charlotte Riley, plan to take several years off to spend time with their two children, aged 11 and 6. He was also reportedly angry that repeated production delays, caused by script-writing setbacks, disrupted those family plans. For now, Paramount+ is still trying to resolve the dispute and get him back.
