During a live broadcast on Channel 14 on Sunday, commentator Mendi Rizel gave host Boaz Golan a blessing dollar from the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Rizel said the gesture fulfilled a promise he had made during a previous studio visit about a month earlier, when he was on a break from reserve duty. "I have a debt of sorts," he said on air. "Last time I was here, about a month ago, I was on a break from the reserves. I promised you on the broadcast a dollar from the Rebbe. Usually, when I promise something, I also keep it."
Rizel said the dollar had been given to him for Golan by his father-in-law, Chabad emissary Rabbi Moshe Zev Pizem of Sderot. He added, "This dollar was given to me for you by my father-in-law, the Chabad emissary in Sderot, Rabbi Moshe Zev Pizem."
A message from Rabbi Pizem was also relayed during the broadcast. He said he was happy to share one of the dollars he had received from the Rebbe, offering "blessing and success" to Golan through Rizel. Pizem also praised Golan's work, saying, "I greatly appreciate the work you do, you publish the truth."
Golan thanked Rizel and Rabbi Pizem for the gesture and said he planned to hang the dollar in a frame at home. He added, "I will also give additional publicity to everyone who comes into my home."
