Attorney General Approved Covert Tax Investigation Into Goldknopf
According to a report by Avishai Grinzig on i24NEWS, United Torah Judaism chairman Yitzhak Goldknopf is under a covert investigation by the Tax Authority, with the approval of the attorney general. The investigation into United Torah Judaism chairman MK Yitzhak Goldknopf was opened after the attorney general authorized it.
The probe was revealed last night in a report by i24NEWS journalist Avishai Grinzig. According to the report, Goldknopf declared 13 real estate assets in 2022, but the Tax Authority identified at least three additional properties that were not reported. At the same time, the authority examined a series of transactions involving members of his family: the Beit Yaakov association, which is linked to Goldknopf, sold an apartment to his granddaughter below market value while concealing the family connection, and the granddaughter later transferred the apartment to her parents without payment.
In a separate 2015 transaction, his son Yisrael gave his father half of an apartment as a gift, and it was later sold. There were also allegations of tax concealment that was paid retroactively, and questions about the sources of financing for apartments, although on the latter issue no conclusive finding was reached. It was also reported that during his tenure as housing minister, Goldknopf raised issues in meetings with mayors concerning kindergartens run by his son, in violation of the conflict-of-interest arrangement he signed. Despite all this, no warning has yet been issued.
Goldknopf's office rejected the allegations. According to the office, the old issues were reviewed and nothing was found, the granddaughter's apartment is not connected to him, the claim regarding his son
