Lebanon says environmental activist Mona Khalil died in Israeli strike near Tyre
Lebanese media reported that environmental activist Mona Khalil died over the weekend from wounds she sustained in an Israeli strike in the Tyre area. A Lebanese medical source told Agence France-Presse that Khalil was 76 when she died.
According to the report, the strike hit her home in the coastal village of Al-Mansouri on June 4. The house had been converted into an eco-lodge. Khalil was described as a pioneer in protecting sea turtles in Lebanon.
The source said she was seriously wounded in the attack and later succumbed to those injuries. The article did not provide any Israeli comment on the reported strike.
