Brazil earned its first win at the 2026 World Cup, beating Haiti 3-0 overnight Friday into Saturday in Group C. Carlo Ancelotti’s team recovered from an opening draw with Morocco and moved to the top of the group on goal difference.
Matheus Cunha was the standout, scoring twice in the first half after getting the nod ahead of Igor Thiago. The Manchester United striker opened the scoring in the 23rd minute by converting a Vinicius rebound from close range, then added a powerful finish into the near corner in the 35th minute.
Vinicius made it 3-0 in first-half stoppage time, finishing a through ball past goalkeeper Johnny Placide. The match was effectively decided before halftime at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, with Spanish referee Alejandro Hernandez officiating.
Brazil had a setback in the 40th minute when Raphinha left with what looked like a hamstring injury and was treated with an ice pack. In the second half Brazil eased off but still recorded its first clean sheet of 2026. Substitute Endrick, making his World Cup debut, scored but saw the goal ruled out for offside.
The win left Brazil on four points, level with Morocco before the final round, when Brazil plays Scotland. Haiti suffered a second straight loss and was eliminated.
