Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have established new covert cells in Iraq to carry out attacks against Gulf states hosting U.S. forces, according to eight Iraqi sources cited by Reuters.
Three of the sources said some of those cells, each consisting of about 10 Iraqi Shiite Muslim fighters, launched at least seven drone attacks between April 20 and May 17. The strikes were carried out from desert areas and targeted Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The report did not say how the cells were directed or what damage the attacks caused. It also did not identify any Iranian or Iraqi officials publicly responding to the allegations.
