ISIS has circulated new propaganda calling on supporters to attack World Cup 2026 games in the United States. The message, reported in recent days by international media, urged followers to exploit the large crowds around stadiums and fan zones, with the stated aim of causing panic and a mass stampede among the millions of fans expected in host cities.
According to the reports, the propaganda explicitly said there was “a whole month to watch the gatherings,” and encouraged attacks on civilians in Western countries to turn the world’s biggest sporting event into a terror target. It also outlined possible scenarios, including knife and vehicle attacks, and other actions meant to terrify spectators arriving for matches.
U.S. authorities said that, for now, they have not received any concrete intelligence pointing to a planned attack linked to the tournament. Even so, security agencies continue to monitor the statements and assess any information that could indicate a real danger.
Since the World Cup began, federal security forces, local police, and private security firms have been operating under heightened deployment around stadiums, fan areas, and major tourist sites. U.S. officials stressed that coordination among all involved bodies is at the highest level to protect players, delegations, and fans throughout the tournament.
