Athena Paris, an OnlyFans creator with more than 1 million followers, has posted an unusually candid critique of adult content creation, arguing that the industry costs women their mental health, relationships and sense of self. Her comments came in response to a video by the late American conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk, who said men tend to look down on women who make OnlyFans content. Paris said she understood his point and described her three years in the industry as a kind of tradeoff: financial freedom in exchange for severe personal harm.
In an Instagram video, Paris said women who make sexual content effectively make “a deal with the dark side.” She said the emotional toll includes “depression, anxiety and isolation,” adding, “It’s all spiritual.” She also said the stigma affects dating and self-worth, telling viewers that “high value” men she has met would sleep with her but never publicly claim her as a partner or introduce her to their parents.
Paris said she has been single for four years and believes that will likely continue while she remains in adult content. In another video, she said she has not had sex for several months. She argued that the way men view OnlyFans creators can become internalized, making women feel “especially worthless” and unable to love because of their career choice.
In recent weeks, Paris has posted more religious material on Instagram and said she has started reading the Bible. She also spoke about childhood abuse, saying many young women enter adult content carrying earlier trauma, low self-esteem and a search for value. She wrote that the world pushes people to center themselves and their careers, but that the soul really longs for “community, family, unconditional love.” The main question now is whether she will leave OnlyFans or keep producing explicit content while warning others about what she calls “the dark side.”
