Oil prices continued to slide on Monday as markets reacted to the apparent winding down of the military confrontation in the Middle East between Iran and the United States. Brent crude was trading at about $76 a barrel, down 3.5%.
West Texas Intermediate, or WTI, was trading at around $73 a barrel, a decline of a little more than 4%. The price move reflected expectations that the conflict may be ending, easing fears of a broader regional disruption to energy supplies.
