Hapoel Be'er Sheva is preparing for its first target of the season after learning on Wednesday that it will meet the winner of the tie between Icelandic side Vikingur and Hungarian champions Gyori in the Champions League second qualifying round. The first leg is set for July 21 or 22, with the return match one week later.
The biggest uncertainty in the camp is midfielder Dan Biton. Biton, who stood out last season, was diagnosed in March with viral myocarditis and is still undergoing tests. There is still no final date for his return to full training or matches, and the club does not yet know whether he will be available for the Champions League qualifiers.
Be'er Sheva began training early last week, but Biton's status remains unresolved. The club is also still exploring options to sign a left back. Helder Lopes has recently started training separately.
Defender Miguel Vitor is currently on vacation and is expected to make a final decision on his future after he returns.
