Several new cultural recommendations are highlighted for the weekend, led by a new HOT and yes series, a North Country wine fair, a fashion-art exhibition in Tel Aviv, a new streaming film, a travel memoir, and a Jerusalem music festival.
The television pick is "Tip Toe," the latest series from Russell T. Davies, creator of "Queer as Folk" and "It's a Sin." Set in Manchester, it follows Leo, a gay bar owner played by Alan Cumming, and his neighbor Clive, a working-class electrician played by David Morrissey, whose long, mostly ordinary coexistence collapses after an incident triggers escalation and ends tragically. The article says the show is intense, sometimes didactic, and exposes how homophobia and hatred of difference can push long-standing neighbors to a point of no return.
For wine lovers, a large regional fair takes place tonight at the football field in Rosh Pina, bringing together boutique wineries such as Feldstein, Kishor, Naaman and Tel Shifon, alongside larger labels including Har Galil, Recanati and Dalton. The event also includes Galilee distilleries, food trucks, cheese, a DJ and dancing, while those staying in central Israel can head to the "Port Chef" festival at Tel Aviv Port, where Yochai Zino from Pescado is appearing at Yulia.
Other recommendations include Shira Torbovich’s Sumii collection at Comme Il Faut on Levontin 28 in Tel Aviv, where limited-edition 3D-printed female torso vases are on display until June 26, with prices starting at 250 shekels. Also noted are Maggie Gyllenhaal’s "The Bride!" on HBO Max, Everrett Ruess’s posthumous travel letters collected in "Intolerable Beauty," and the fourth Jerusalem East and West Festival, set for June 24 to 25 at Sultan’s Pool, with Tom Cohen saying it offers "a glimpse into a real and entirely possible future."
