U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said Washington wants to publish the full text of the memorandum with Iran as soon as possible, possibly on the same day, even though Pakistan asked to delay publication until Friday. In an interview with CBS, he said the Pakistanis, who played a key role in mediating the agreement with Iran, had requested that the text not be released yet and insisted on Friday as the publication date.
“We are trying to push them to release it today because we want to inform the American people about the details of this agreement,” Vance said. He added that the United States had reached “a good deal with Iran that serves America’s interests,” and said there was “distortion and misinformation” about the memorandum of understanding.
Vance said the agreement with Iran would open the Strait of Hormuz and that oil flow was already resuming. He also said the memorandum would ensure that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons.
